A CAMPAIGN group will outline its vision to help protect Hampshire’s countryside.

An open meeting will be held by The Campaign To Protect Rural England (CPRE) to update the community on its work across the county.

The charity works to protect, shape and enhance a countryside for everyone to value and enjoy.

After its annual meeting, CPRE Hampshire’s chairman, Dee Haas will give a presentation about what the organisation has achieved, its plans for a Green Belt in the south of the county and its strategic vision.

She said: “The difficulty we see today is that there is a lack of a strategic framework for land use across the whole of Hampshire.

“Planning is undertaken by each borough or district but there is no voice for the countryside we love and it is being eroded daily.

“Hampshire’s essentially rural character needs to be protected and enhanced.”

CPRE Hampshire has prepared a short briefing document called the Hampshire Strategic Vision as a stimulus to debate the future of the area.

It follows concern within the group that the qualities of the county are at risk of unplanned and uncoordinated growth. The Hampshire Strategic Vision is the campaigner’s first step towards a more defined and sustainable approach towards the meeting of the needs of the area.

At the meeting, on Saturday from 11am Littleton Millennium Memorial Hall. near Winchester. attendees will have the chance to raise issues and put forward ideas.
