A TEENAGE girl has described how she "panicked" as a uniformed police officer allegedly groped her in the kitchen of her home while her mother sat watching television in the next room.

PC Keith Burgess is on trial at Guildford Crown Court accused of sending sexually explicit messages to three girls aged between 15 and 17 in 2014 and 2015 while working as a neighbourhood officer in Southampton.

The 42-year-old also faces three counts of sexual assault, three of misconduct in public office, a child grooming offence and two child porn offences.

The 16-year-old girl told police in a video interview that on May 19, 2015 she was alone in the kitchen with him when he came closer to her in order to show her some Facebook posts on his phone.

Sobbing, she said: "I felt comfortable, I felt safe."

She alleged he then began to grope her beneath her underwear, under the dressing gown, shorts and T-shirt that she was wearing, but she "smacked" his hand away.

"I panicked, I didn't know what to do," and added: "He said 'It's OK, it's OK, I am not going to do anything bad'," the girl said.

"I said 'No, stop', then he repeated 'No, no, it's OK, don't worry'."

The teenager said she then "made up an excuse" to go into the living room where her mother and sister were watching TV, adding that after a few minutes Burgess then beckoned for her to return to the kitchen where he groped her again.

"I felt scared as I didn't know what he would do if I didn't go. I did as he said as I was afraid of what would happen," she said.

"I just felt disgusted as someone who I saw as such a good friend has done something like that, I kind of felt heartbroken."

The alleged victim said she communicated with the defendant by Facebook and WhatsApp every couple of days.

While he was on holiday with his wife, it is alleged that he had sent her a photo of his upper body and asked her to send him a photo of her bottom but she refused.

She said that he would also send messages saying "Hey beautiful, hey sexy" but she said she ignored these and dismissed it as "It's just Keith", adding: "It's just the way he talked, he can be quite cheeky sometimes."

Burgess denies the charges. The trial continues.
