EMERGENCY services rushed to Winchester Railway after receiving reports of concern for a woman’s welfare last night.

Crews from Eastleigh fire service and Winchester fire service both arrived on scene shortly before 7.30pm.

The woman was brought down from the bridge, near Newburgh Street, at 8pm and taken to hospital.

In March, police negotiators spent several hours talking a mentally-anguished woman down from the railway bridge near Winchester train station.

Police today declined to say whether it was the same person involved in both incidents.
