A horse had to be put down after collapsing in a Southampton road.
Bystanders watched on as a horse was spooked and broke its leg on Weston Lane yesterday afternoon.
The horse was spooked by a grass cutter along the road and fell, breaking its leg and having to be put down after police arrived.
A spokesperson from Hampshire Constabulary said: “Unfortunately a horse did die this afternoon after being spooked by a grass cutter, slipping and breaking its leg.
“The horse was then put down by a vet. There is no investigation into the incident.”
Officers were alerted to the scene by members of the public shortly before 4pm.
