PIP Nolan has joined his former Team Solent clubmate Tobi Adekunle in committing to AFC Totton for 2017/18.

A technically gifted player, 24-year-old Nolan operated as a ball-playing centre-back for Sydenhams Premier outfit Team Solent, but is equally at home in midfield.

He is not entirely new to the Southern One South & West scene having played a handful of games for Totton’s divisional rivals Winchester City as a youngster.

Totton boss Louis Langdown said: “Pip adds quality to the squad and will get our passing game going from the off.

“His calmness in possession of the ball is something Adam (Wilde, player-assistant), Jamie (Cotton, goalkeeper coach) and our chairman Wayne Mew all commented on when we spoke about our player targets for this season.

“He’s been coached well by Kevin Braybrook and Jimmy Taylor at Solent and we’ve all watched Pip over the last few months of the season to know we have a good player on our books.”

Along with being impressed by Nolan’s ability, Totton admire the fact that he has turned down greater financial rewards elsewhere in order to play for the Testwood Stadium club.

He joins fellow spring arrivals Adekunle, Alfy Whittingham (loan) and goalkeeper Shane Murphy in wanting to be part of a Stags success story next term.

An AFC Totton statement said: “Louis and his staff have made it clear that players coming to the club must have a desire to play for the shirt and an ambition to progress as players. Pip, along with Tobi, Alfy and Shane, have all shown this.

“We are delighted to welcome Pip and hope he enjoys the new season as a Stag.”
