A HAMPSHIRE pensioner died following a fall in her home, an inquest heard.
Elizabeth Holmes from Eastleigh suffered a spine fracture before later developing a chest infection, Winchester Coroner’s Court heard.
The 80-year-old, of Grangewood Gardens, Fair Oak,was admitted to Royal Hampshire County Hospital where she died on February 10.
The court heard that Mrs Holme’s husband Michael had heard her fall in the night on January 15 and decided to call 999.
Mrs Holme’s was a mother of four and grandmother of eight.
Assistant coroner Sarah Whitby said Mrs Holme’s underlying frailty meant that she was prone to falling.
“The evidence clearly shows that she had a significant fall and there is nothing to make me feel that the fall was not the cause of the significant damage to her spine,” she said.
She recorded a conclusion of accidental death.
