THOUSANDS of people are expected to flock to a countryside event today.

Sparsholt College is hosting its Countryside Day, showcasing its fabulous facilities and animals.

Guided by Sparsholt’s students and lecturers, up to 10,000 visitors will experience activities from clay pigeon shooting, coppicing, tree climbing and fly fishing.

For those who prefer to sit back and watch, there will be Hampshire Fire and Rescue demonstrations, ‘runner ducks’, sheep shearing, sheep and gun dog displays, horse-logging and show jumping.

There will also be pony rides, tractor-trailer rides, Zorbing, wheelchair basketball and a junior pedal tractor grand prix.

All these activities will make for hungry, thirsty work and, once again, Taste of Hampshire, in conjunction with Hampshire Fare, will celebrate the region’s finest food and drink.
