IS your child the next Van Gogh ?

Here’s the perfect opportunity to see if they have what it takes, as event organisers Fight for Lives launch the Greg Gilbert Art Competition in partnership with the Daily Echo.

Children from Hampshire are invited to showcase their best art work in support of artist and rockstar, Greg Gilbert, who is trying to raise money for life saving treatment against bowel cancer.

Greg will judge all entries personally and the top ten will be decided by public vote via the Daily Echo, closing date May 31.

The overall winner from both categories will receive their work framed and signed by Greg as well as being printed in the newspaper.

Greg said: “My earliest memory is of drawing and art has remained a constant source of pleasure and solace throughout my life.

“Even now going through chemotherapy, it is proving to be a great comfort and helps me to articulate many complex and overwhelming emotions.”

Greg has shown his work at the Royal Academy, Royal College of Art, London Science Museum, Pallant House and currently has a solo exhibit at Southampton City Gallery.

On May 26, there will be a fundraising friendly football tournament, where children can enter for free, which will be held at St Mary’s stadium 2pm until 5pm .

This will be followed by an evening of entertainment at The Grand Cafe 7pm until 2am, the following day.
