IT WAS a weekend of music for Hampshire residents.

Hundreds flocked to Palmerston Park in Southampton to enjoy free music and sunny weather on Saturday.

The Southampton City Live festival returned and gave local musicians the opportunity to showcase their talents.

The event, previously known as Bandstand Live, was staged around the historic bandstand in the park.

Several bands performed during the day including the Diamond Age, Calum Lintott, and the Southampton Ukulele Jam.

The initiative was run by Matt Bunday Events, in partnership with Voice FM and with the support of Southampton Solent University, Radio Taxi and Enham Trust.

Tony Bunday, co-director of Matt Bunday Events, said: “We are very happy and delighted at the quality of the music.

“We feel we really did showcase some of the best talent. People seemed to have a very good time.”
