SLITHERING their way into the city, six giant snails have landed at a Southampton shopping centre as part of a journey around the world.
Westquay shopping centre is playing host to Snailed It, which features pink, green, yellow, white and blue snails.
It is a UK first, with the snails having toured the US, China, Australia and Russia to name a few.
At 2.4 metres high and three metres long, the snails are at Westquay Esplanade until June 16.
Made from 100 percent recycled plastic, they have been on the road since 2009, with Milan their first stop having been made by Italian artist Kicco and his company Cracking Art.
To mark the installations, Mayflower Youth Theatre will be performing on June 3 at 1pm after working with students from Southampton Solent University to create a snail-inspired performance.
