I write to you over the debacle of Lidl Hythe.
We have been residents for over 26 years and I should like it explained to me how an elitist minority can vote against an issue that over 4,000 people wanted?
This is not democracy as I understand it.

Not only would Lidl have created jobs, it would have given low income families a supermarket they could afford to shop in. Surely a Christian thing to do!
The reasons for rejecting the plans were farcical.
Go down most roads in Hythe after the weekend especially and you will find beer and soft drinks cans strewn along the pavement. The majority get picked up by the residents.
In any city town or village you will get a bad element who never use bins provided, so beer cans in a church yard does not hold up.
Lastly, may I remind these councillors etc of an eyesore right in the centre of Hythe. refer to the Bells warehouse - like a large tin box next to St John’s Hall.
I rest my case.
Mrs Gillian Rose, Hythe
