Police have renewed their appeal to track down the mother of a newborn girl who was found dead in a Hampshire park.

Officers from Hampshire Constabulary are growing increasingly concerned for the mother's welfare after 'Baby M's' body was discovered in Manor Park, Church Hill, Aldershot, at about 1.30pm on Friday.

Police are looking into the theory that Baby M may have been left in the park sometime between Sunday, May 14 and Tuesday, May 16.

They are also looking at the possibility that the mother may have given birth just outside the park underneath the oak tree and then taken Baby M into the park, where she was later found.

Chief Inspector Debbie Brooks said: “Our priority remains finding the mother of Baby M and as each day passes, we are growing more and more concerned for her welfare.

“We know that this must be a very distressing time for you but we want to make sure that you get the urgent medical care that you need.

“Please get in touch with us via 101 or go to a hospital for medical attention, our priority is your wellbeing.

“I would also like to thank the community for their support as our enquiries continue."

Neighbourhood officers have been out patrolling in Manor Park and the surrounding areas since Friday, and will be continuing to do so over the next few days.

Officers are appealing for anyone with information, or has concerns about a relative, to call 101 quoting 44170188442, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
