A PHOTOGRAPHER has created a stunning "hyper lapse" video by taking 417 photos of a Southampton landmark.

Szymon Szymanski took hundreds of pictures of the city's Civic Centre to create the tracking shot.

The 20-year-old from Romsey took pictures of the monument from different angles before editing the video.

“The clock itself was the focus of my pictures all the time. Every single photo had to be aiming at the same point of the tower,” he said.

This was the first time that Szymon made a hyper lapse video and said he chose the clock tower as a subject because he thinks it really represents the city.

“I just wanted to remind people about the great monuments we have in Southampton.

"Most people don’t tend to look at the city and its monuments", he said.

Originally from Poland, he has been living in the country for the past 4 years and grabbed a camera for the first time 14 years ago.

“ I like to tell stories. I think pictures can explain stories and express feelings and a video can tell more than a book,” he said.

Szymon, who is a game host, is now trying to set his own business and hopes to become a full-time photographer and videographer.

“I am waiting for my next day off to make another video which this time will include Bargate", he said.
