A HAMPSHIRE language teacher has won a regional award for the quality of her lessons.

Emma Hodder teaches extra curricular French classes to nursery and primary school children and was named South West Licensee of the Year by teaching resource company La Jolie Ronde at their annual conference.

The Stubbington mum-of-two said: “I am absolutely delighted to have been presented with this award.

“It’s a real honour and great to be recognised. My classes are fun and my pupils are learning so much. It’s wonderful to see the children making such excellent progress and to see them chatting in French, so confidently, is a real bonus.”

Her passion for languages was first ignited after a secondary school French exchange trip to Metz, before moving to Paris and going on to study languages at Paris’ prestigious Sorbonne University.

General manager of La Jolie Ronde Steve Baker said: “Emma was chosen for the outstanding commitment she has shown over the last 12 years, not only La Jolie Ronde but to the children and schools in her area.”
