Some of the world's strongest men will compete in Southampton this weekend.

The Ultimate Strongman World Series comes to St Mary’s stadium for the first leg of the World series, competitors going head to head in five gruelling strength disciplines.

Included in the heats will be three time America's Strongest Man Derek Poundstone, making a return from retirement to take on his previous foes including ‘Big Z’ Zydrunas Savickas, Britain's Terry Hollands, and, hitting form in 2017, Martins Licis.

Commenting on his return, Poundstone said: “Since I made the decision to return to training I couldn’t wait to compete. Now I am looking forward to landing in the UK, and taking on my nine other competitors in what should be a huge test of strength for us all”.

History could be made at this first World Series event, as £5000 is up for grabs for the first man to break the Log Press World record - set by Big Z himself in 2015 at a whopping 228Kg.

Zydrunas won't want to lose the record, but Graham Hicks and Dimitar Savatinov are closing in, and it looks set to be beaten at St Mary's.

Disciplines for Saturday’s showdown will include the Giant Tyre Flip, Log Press World Record Challenge, Farmers Walk, Car Deadlift for Reps and the fans favourite - the Atlas Stones.

Only one man will win out in this weekends strength showdown, in front of the South Coast crowd.

Tickets for June 10 event start at £25.
