HUNDREDS of people are expected to line the streets of a Hampshire town for festival spectacular on Saturday.

Bishop’s Waltham Rotary Carnival procession will start at Station Road at midday before moving past the Crown pub, onto the High Street and finishing at Hoe Road Recreation Ground.

The parade will feature a cavalcade of vintage and classic cars while Batala, the Portsmouth drum band will lead the rest of the Procession round to the Hoe Road Recreation ground, along with steam roller, stilt walker, Dray horses, and groups from local schools and the youth club.

President of the Bishops Waltham Rotary Club Ian Withers said the event was set to be a success following last year’s turnout which attracted thousands of people.

He said: “It’s an event at the heart of the community and I would encourage as many people as possible to attend the event which will raise money for local and international charities.”

A spokesperson for Bishops Waltham parish council welcomed the event saying: “The parish council is delighted to support this important community event which is very popular in the village’s calendar.”

The rotary club has organising the event for more than 25 years has provided terrific enjoyment local families from Bishops Waltham and beyond.

Businesses and organisations will also assemble to compete in a grand Tug o’ War competition while kids are encouraged to dress up in space gear.
