Ex-Saints star Peter Crouch was photographed on Saturday reveling at the Isle of Wight Festival while more than 18,000 people are expected to descend on Seaclose Park in Newport to se the legend that is Rod Stewart close this year's Isle of Wight festival.

The 72-year-old music legend has sold more than 200 million records worldwide and fans are expected to be in high spirits when they flood the main arena later.

Playing alongside the rock n roll legend will be Bastille who have sold over 2.5 million records across the U.K alongside George Ezra.

Clean Bandit will headline the Big Top along with The Undertones who were the first punk band of the modern post-1970's era. 

Last night saw Arcade Fire light up the Main Stage with an electrifying headline set which saw tracks from their impressive back catalogue including No Cars Go, Neon Bible and Reflektor.

Bang Bang Romeo, a female-fronted, larger-than-life rock band from Sheffield talked to the Echo about performing in Southampton.

They said: “We haven’t played in Southampton but we would really love to. All of our friends in bands have said how good The Joiners is, so we would love to play there.”

The South Yorkshire based band provide a modern twist on a 60s/70s soundscape. 

3,000 revellers also gathered in front of the Main Stage with glow sticks in aid of Stand Up to Cancer.

Almost two decades since releasing their hit single, Teenage Dirtbag, Wheatus proved that they are still hugely popular after packing out Kashmir Cafe stage - leaving some fans missing out on the opportunity to see them.

Frontman Brendan B Brown said: "We felt really terrible it was so busy, people couldn't get in. We had a lot of upset fans tweeting us saying that they couldn't watch the performance.

"It means a lot that people still remember and still care. This is our first time at Isle of Wight Festival and we feel honoured to be here, considering the legacy of the artists like Jimi Hendrix performing here."

Earlier this month the American Rock Band performed at Winchester Guildhall.

“We absolutely loved the people of Winchester when we performed there last month.

"Everything is old in Winchester, we were shocked that they invited us to somewhere so beautiful. The crowd was fantastic.

"We have performed at The Talking Heads previously in Southampton and we really hope to come back as soon as we can,” said the lead singer.

The band are currently working on their seventh album.
