A BLAZE engulfed a school bus in Hampshire this morning.

It is understood that the bus was heading towards Swanmore College on the A32 in Exton at around 8am and had no pupils onboard at the time.

A post on social media by a local stated: "School bus on fire in Exton. No pupils on board. Driver safe."

Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service have not yet responded to questions from the Daily Echo.

Meanwhile Swanmore College confirmed that the bus was going towards Swanmore, but did not say which road or whether any pupils were onboard.

Although reports on social media circulated that it was a school bus, Wheelers Travel Ltd, claim that the coach is used for "all sorts of purposes".

They said: "It was a coach, it was not in service there were no passengers on board.

"The coach gets used for all sorts of service."

They confirmed the driver was okay and said that an investigation into the fire has started.

They added: "The driver is fine he pulled in and saw it was on fire and saw if he could do anything, but realised there was nothing he can do and he called the fire brigade."

This time last year, a Wheelers coach carrying more than 50 scouts was engulfed by flames on the A31 at Stoney Cross
