POLICE say no crime was committed when a man accosted a seven year old girl in McDonald's in Winchester.

The girl's mum Deanne Tollervey said the police did not appear to be taking the incident seriously.

The man offered Mia money to go with him. When challenged he ran out of the restaurant.

The police said they have subsequently spoken to the the man and are satisfied there was no criminal intent.

In a statement, the police said: "We take all reports of suspicious incidents seriously. In this case we spoke to the man concerned and, having considered the circumstances, no crime was identified. We fed this back to the girl’s mother."
