A MAN from Southampton died of a drug overdose, an inquest heard.

Tristan William Jackson, 23, of Squires Walk, died at his brother’s flat in Shirley Towers on February 5, 2017 from a combination of cocaine and heroin.

Mr Jackson was visiting his brother Gary at Shirley Towers on February 4 and at about 3am Gary found his brother lying on his couch but could not see him breathing so he called 999 and attempted to resuscitate him.

When the ambulance arrived crews continued attempting to resuscitate Mr Jackson but just after 30 minutes they declared him dead.

PC Darlene Peters said that a search was carried out of the flat and no drug paraphernalia was found anywhere in the flat or on Mr Jackson. The police have said that there were no suspicious circumstances to his death and there was no evidence of suicide.

Pathologist Jeffrey Theaker said that he saw no signs of natural disease or anything that would lead to sudden death. However the toxicologist Peter Streete said in his report that there were low levels of cocaine and close to fatal levels of morphine and codeine in his blood. The latter were thought to be as a result of taking heroin.

The senior coroner Grahame Short said that Mr Jackson was a regular drug user in the time up to his death and that he died as a result of ingesting heroin and possibly also cocaine. The coroner said Mr Jackson died of drug-related causes.
