A ROMSEY funeral directors has praised an employee after she became its first female undertaker.

Lizzie Cox joined the team at AH Cheater Funeral Directors after passing her diploma in funeral directing.

The appointment makes Lizzie the first female to take on the role of funeral director at the firm.

Michael Peace, of AH Cheater Funeral Directors, said: “We want to congratulate Lizzie Cox in becoming the first qualified female funeral director employed by the company.

“Lizzie who went to school Romsey and also lives in the town, has been working for the company for five years and has progressed from administration to funeral director.

“We are very proud of Lizzie’s achievements.

“She has a very natural, caring nature and looks after the bereaved families we serve with empathy and professionalism.

“Even in the short time she has been arranging funeral she has had great feedback from people who have appreciated her help.
