A MOTORCYCLIST has died after a crash on the Isle of Wight.

Police were called to Corf Road, Shalfleet, following reports that a Volkswagen Beetle had collided with a motorbike.

The 30-year-old motorcyclist, from Cowes, was given treatment but died at the scene.

His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist police officers.

The driver of the car, a 62-year-old man, was uninjured.

Officers are investigating the crash, which happened just before 5.50pm yesterday.

Sergeant Mark Thornley said: “We are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed this collision or who saw either the motorbike or dark blue Beetle in the area prior to what happened.

“Any information you have could really assist our investigation, so please get in touch.”
