HUNDREDS of residents enjoyed an afternoon of music and fun in Eastleigh.

More than 280 people took part in the Fabulous 40s afternoon at the Concorde Club on Sunday.

Music inspired by the 40s and 50s entertained participants who also had the opportunity to enjoy a live swing band, singers and dance demonstrations.

They also had the chance to rummage through clothing and shoes from 40s and 50s at the several stalls available.

The event was organised by Southampton West Rotary Club and celebrated the organisation’s 12th anniversary.

John Parkhouse, one of the organisers, said: “We are very happy. People supported us in a way that we couldn’t believe.

“Everyone left happy and we’ll certainly do it next year.

“The Concorde club lent us the garden and it was an ideal situation.”

Participants also raised £1,000 for the Piam Brown oncology and haematology centre at Southampton General Hospital.
