HAMPSHIRE youngsters can get sporty as a popular sport scheme is to return.

Those living across the Eastleigh borough will have the opportunity to try several sports this summer as part of the council’s Park Sport programme.

Youngsters aged between eight and 16 can enjoy activities in more than 25 local parks, paying just £1 per session.

This year the scheme provides more than 300 sessions for different sports including baseball, basketball, cricket, cycling, dancing, fishing, football, golf, martial arts, netball, sailing and yoga.

In addition to these bookable sessions, there will be five free Skate Jam events run by Team Extreme and free swimming sessions at Fleming Park Leisure Centre, Wildern Leisure Centre and Hamble Sports Complex.

All sessions will be delivered by local clubs and coaches.

The popular scheme celebrates its 13th anniversary this year and is run with the support of Eastleigh Borough Local Area Committees, VIVID Homes as well as parish and town councils.

Activities will kick-off on July 31 and will be run until September 1.

Residents will have the opportunity to book their favourite sessions by visiting www.eastleigh.gov.uk.
