ROYSTON Smith MP has said that money for Southampton Cycle Network should be “re-prioritised”.

I hope he has heard that the National Institute For Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) recommends “no idling zones” around schools, hospitals and care homes, due to poor air quality contributing to 20,000 deaths per year.

Money spent improving cycling and pedestrian routes is essential if we want our city and our world to have breathable air.

Although “no idling zones” and electric vehicles help, the best solution is much, much more walking and cycling, so let’s do all we can to make this easier for more people.
