YOUNG walkers are doing their bit for the community by taking part in a trek around the city.
The children from Foundry Lane Primary School visited all the schools in their trust in aid of charity.
Collecting toiletries in aid of homeless hostels Patrick House and Two Saints, the youngsters set off on their mission as part of the Southampton Civic Award - a kind of ‘mini Duke of Edinburgh.’
The year six pupils visited their family of schools which are all part of the Southampton Cooperative Learning Trust - Regent’s Park Community College, Freemantle Primary School, St Mary’s Church of England, Banister, the Polygon and St John’s.
Year six teacher and civic award organiser Marie Loftus said: “The walk is the community service part of the award.
“They have also had to do a hobby and a sport for six months, school service like helping younger children, and an overnight expedition. We are going camping with a hike.”
