ONE of the New Forest’s biggest attractions is about to open its doors once again.

A new-look World of Top Gear is set to open at Beaulieu after receiving a makeover.

The exhibition features one of the world’s longest limousines and cars that have been transformed to tackle the waves.

Visitors will be able to walk through the doors in time for the summer holidays.

The BBC show now has presenters Matt LeBlanc, Chris Harris and Rory Reid returning for a second season following the revamp that saw Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May leave the programme.

A heritage corridor will pay tribute to the show’s past presenters, as well as vehicles featuring in the newest version. Beaulieu commercial director, Stephen Munn said: “The World of Top Gear is hugely popular with many visitors, and we are delighted to give it a fresh, new look which brings it up to date with the latest series, while displaying the highlights of its 40 year history.”

At the entrance, the stretch Panda limousine used to carry a celebrity to the Brit Awards has been made into the longest car seat ever, alongside the roofless Reliant Rialtos used by Chris Evans and Matt LeBlanc in their first road trip challenge.

Visitors will also have the chance to see the red Lotus with a sleeping compartment on top and see the Porsche 944 Turbo ambulance, used with May and Hammond at the wheel.

The display is in addition to the National Motor Museum, which houses 250 vehicles from around the ages, as well as Beaulieu Abbey and Palace House, which has been the ancestral home to the Montagu family since 1538.
