SHOCKING video footage shows two men robbing a cash courier and making off with £30,000 in a stolen car.

The pair can be seen waiting outside a Southampton Sainsbury's and waiting for the driver to arrive, before he was ambushed and threatened.

Jamie Bellows, 28, and Xavier Whyte, 29, have been jailed after the incident in Bitterne Precinct.

Southampton Crown Court heard that the duo used a stolen BMW with fake plates before Bellows, who was dressed in dark clothing and a hooded top, threatened the driver and stole the box.

He jumped in the car and Whyte, who was waiting as a getaway driver, sped off at high speed.

The cash box was later recovered on Whitworth Crescent - near Bellows's home address - but the money has never been traced.

Following the incident, which happened on December 29, 2015, Bellows was arrested in February 2016 and Whyte a month later.

Officers scoured hours of CCTV footage, digital evidence, and mobile phone data to identify the wanted men.

Both pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit robbery at Southampton Crown Court on June 27.

Bellows, of Chafen Road, Southampton, was jailed for seven and a half years, while Whyte, of Wilton Road, Southampton, was jailed for six and a half years.

Detective Sergeant Will Whale, the senior investigating officer in the case, said: "Bellows and Whyte pleaded guilty to their involvement in significant criminality, committing a crime that was not just a business crime, but a personal one too. I welcome this sentence that marks the conclusion of a very complex investigation.

"Both men were forensically aware in the preparation and execution of this crime and it has taken a dedicated team of detectives to bring them to justice.

"I commend the bravery of the security delivery driver who was left traumatised after this attack, I acknowledge the support of the security company and I commend the investigators whose time, effort and unrelenting professionalism got us to the truth."
