ONE of the most popular events in the south has steamed into action.

Thousands of people are expected to attend the three-day Netley Marsh Stream and Craft Show, which is being held in the centre of the village.

This year's attractions include Ken Fox's Wall of Death, the Fair Oak Dog Agility Team and the Tigers Motorcycle Display Team.

Spectators will also be admire to admire hundreds of vintage vehicles, including stream engines, cars and motorcycles.

The show, which is being held at Meadow Mead Farm in Ringwood Road, Netley Marsh, opened under overcast skies at 9am today.

A show spokesman said: "The forecast is for rain tonight followed by on-off showers tomorrow. Sunday is not looking too bad.

"We had about 10,000 people through the gates last year.

"It was really hot all weekend. This year it's a bit cooler - perfect show weather - so we could have in excess of 15,000 spectators."

The show, which raises funds for charities in the Netley Marsh area, was first held in 1971 and has netted more than £400,000 for various good causes since 1991.

Last year's show raised about £8,000.
