TRAVELLERS have appeared in a Hampshire recreation ground.
Arriving on Thursday evening, the group are illegally camped on Park Lane Recreation Ground in Fareham.
A statement from Fareham Borough Council said: “We apologies for any inconvenience this may cause our residents.
“The law states that we cannot remove travellers from our land immediately but must follow a set procedure. The process is now underway.”
The council also say that after the travellers have been removed, the access procedures will be assessed to see if security can be improved.
A spokesman for Hampshire Constabulary said: "We are aware of an unauthorised encampment on land off Park Lane, Fareham.
"Officers are working with the landowners as we can continue to assess the situation."
