A Hampshire man has been sentenced to more than three years behind bars for burglary and stealing a BMW.
Lee Robert Palmer, 40, of Gosport Road in Fareham, pleaded guilty to stealing the car and number plates in an attempt to disguise the car’s identity.
Investigating officer PC Matthew Gorman said: “He showed utter disregard for his victims and I hope his subsequent admission and this sentence will provide all those involved with some closure on the matter.
“Palmer was identified as a suspect in the burglary on Gudge Heath Lane after a vehicle was stolen elsewhere in Fareham.
“Further evidence, including DNA and footprints at the burglary address, was later secured to build the case for the offences Palmer was later charged with.”
Palmer was sentenced to 38 months in prison at Portsmouth Crown Court.
