CHARACTERS from the musical The Addams Family had their fingers on the pulse in Southampton.

Members of the cast underwent health checks at the Mayflower Theatre to turn the spotlight on Wessex Heartbeat’s Healthy Heart campaign.

They threw their weight behind the initiative at the start of a 12-day run of The Addams Family – the Musical Comedy.

John Munro, Wessex Heartbeat chief executive, said: “Thinking about having a healthy heart is important whoever you are.

“The Addams Family cast were brilliant patients, even if our nurses struggled to find a pulse in some of the characters.

“Our sincere thanks to them for raising awareness of our Healthy Heart campaign.

“Thanks also go to the Mayflower Theatre which is one of our greatest supporters and one of our 25 sponsors in our anniversary year.

“The Healthy Heart campaign encourages people to think about adopting better lifestyles to ensuring their cardiac health is as good as it can be.

It includes on-the-spot health checks for employees at businesses and organisations to help identify issues at an early stage – or even chronic conditions in some cases.

Stars in The Addams Family – the Musical Comedy include Samantha Womack as Morticia, Carrie Hope Fletcher as Wednesday, Cameron Blakely as Gomez, and Les Dennis as Uncle Fester. The show is playing at the Mayflower Theatre until July 29.
