A man has been stabbed and a woman injured in an assault in Shirley.
Police received reports of three men getting out of a car outside the Pig 'N Whistle pub in Shirley Road between midnight and 2am on Saturday before attacking the man and woman opposite the junction with Kingston Road.
The car has been described as a green, Y-reg Peugeot.
The man, a 53-year-old, sustained serious but not life-threatening stab wounds, while the woman suffered minor injuries. Both victims had their phones stolen.
A Hampshire Constabulary spokesman had originally said the attack took place outside the pub. The spokesman added: "As a result of our ongoing investigation, we are now able to confirm that the scene of the assault is on the other side of Shirley Road, opposite the entrance to Kingston Road."
Suzanna Radkiewicz, landlady of the Pig 'N Whistle pub, said: “As far as I know the stabbing had nothing to do with the pub.
“As far as I’m aware they weren’t customers. My pub was shut at the time of the incident. Last orders are 11.30pm and we close at 12.”
Police have now revealed two 45-year-old men from Southampton, and a man of no fixed abode have been arrested. They are currently in police custody.
