A 17-MONTH-OLD eye cancer survivor was the guest of honour at the relaunch of a Hampshire optical store.

Sebastian Burrell, nicknamed ‘Super Seb’, is currently undergoing treatment for a rare eye cancer.

He and his family were invited to Vision Express to unveil its new-look Southampton store, following an extensive refurbishment last week.

The Fair Oak toddler was diagnosed with retinoblastoma (Rb) in both of his eyes in October 2016 when he was just nine-months-old, after his parents noticed he had a squint.

Sebastian underwent six doses of chemotherapy and although he initially responded well, doctors found that he had relapsed in May and new tumours had begun to form on the retina of his right eye but his treatment continues.

His mum Pippa Burnell said: “After a number of referrals, we found ourselves at the Royal London Hospital, where we were told Seb had a large tumour in his right eye and a small one in his left eye.

“He has continued to prove time and time again how strong and resilient he is. To look at him, you would have no idea what he is going through.”

Store manager Justin Cook said: “Retinoblastoma is a condition we are very passionate about raising awareness of.

“It was great to have Sebastian and Pippa with us.”
