THEY’RE the stars of the small screen, and this weekend they were out in force to make a difference.

Christopher Biggins, Helen Lederer - who is tipped to be entering Celebrity Big Brother tomorrow - and Only Fools and Horses star John Challis signed books and autographs for star-struck fans at Quizfest UK.

Meeting and greeting TV and pub quiz fanatics were also David Hamilton, Fred Dinenage and Chris Hughes, with a host of other stars from Egghead Beth Webster to stand-up Paul Sinha and Fordingbridge’s best-know Formula 1 specialist Murray Walker.

Biggins - who grew up in Salisbury - was quiz-master for the night, and was “thrilled” to be back at Beaulieu. The former Lord Montagu was “a dear friend” and as patron of Variety, The Children’s Charity he was there to help raise funds for the Wessex branch.

Mr Challis said his character Boycie would have thought a quiz night “a bit beneath him - but wife Marlene would have been excited and he would have had to sit through it”.
