SUMMER is hotting up and the list of events and attractions in Hampshire is at an all time high.

Here's our top tips of ten ways to treat the family to a day out this weekend...

(1) At Marwell Zoo...

MARWELL has become the first UK zoo to host a collection of giant LEGO brick animals. A total of 81 stunning sculptures, representing 27 different species, have been installed in a unique trail, which is on show until October 1.

Two million bricks have been used to make the incredible sculptures. Among them are a 1.5-tonne elephant, a Bengal tiger and a majestic lion with his playful cubs. Other sculptures are inspired by Marwell’s own diverse collection of animals, with an ostrich, a pair of warthogs and a mob of animatronic meerkats all featuring.

LEGO fans of all ages can also try their hand at making their own brick creations in The Great Brick Building Zone. The ‘zone’ has been set up in a marquee in front of historic Marwell Hall and will be home to three different LEGO activities. For £3 guests can build their own mini LEGO figure to take home. There will also be two free-of-charge activities; a LEGO brick pit for keen builders to let their imaginations run wild and a ‘Python Marathon’ where LEGO enthusiasts can contribute to a record breaking LEGO brick snake by building segments to join onto its body.

As part of the Great Brick Safari, sculpture spotters can find out the number of builders, hours taken, weight and bricks used for each of the LEGO animals featured, apart from the elephant, ‘Earl Grey’, as named by public vote. A free spotter's guide, available at the zoo entrance, will give trail-goers the chance to guess the number of bricks used to build him and win a family tour of Bright Bricks. The free Marwell Zoo app now includes The Great Brick Safari map, Spotter’s Guide and fun LEGO facts!
