THE show continued despite the changeable weather as thousands flocked to Wickham Festival near Fareham to see folk sensations Seth Lakeman and Show of Hands.

Best known for songs including the Bold Knight and Lady of the Sea, Seth, one of the biggest- selling traditional folk artists in the UK, graced the stage having previously appeared at the festival in 2013 and 2015.

The festival’s comedy line-up was topped by stand-up Zoe Lyons.

The festival, which brings several million pounds to the local economy every year, is run by Gosport councillor Peter Chegwyn.

Talking to the Daily Echo, Cllr Chegwyn said: “The festival has grown rapidly from being in the backstage of a community centre to a successful festival which has coped.

“In many ways, we are returning to our roots with a very strong folk line-up which will appeal to the many regulars who come year after year as well as our new generation of fans.”

The festival is expected to attract more than 20,000 people this weekend.
