A HAMPSHIRE woman is set to host the world’s first ever pop-up pug pub.

Devida Bushrod, 39, of Fareham, has finally seen an end to her venue search to open the first pop-up site for pugs and their owners to enjoy a drink.

The idea is all to raise money for two pug welfare groups, and will open towards the end of September.

She had been searching for a venue after hatching the idea earlier this summer.

Devida, who owns two pugs, said: “I thought that organising the pub is a fun way to combine a very British tradition with the buzz and joy that pugs always bring!

“After Bessie [Devida’s first pug], we have really enjoyed meeting other pugs and their owners – it’s like a little underground sub-culture.”

The first of its kind in the world, the pub will be held at the Courtyard at Southsea Castle on September 24, offering food and drink to both pugs and their owners.

The idea comes following the success of a pop-up pug cafe in Guildford in May.

Two charities will benefit from the launch, which will be the Pug Dog Welfare Group and the Homeward Bound Pug Rescue.
