WITH only weeks to go LGBT revellers are getting their feather boas ready for one of the south coast’s newest festivals.

At least 13 groups will parade round the city centre on August 26 as Southampton Pride organisers expect at least 7,000 participants to turn up with family and friends.

Already confirmed on the parade - which runs from West Marlands Road to the Bargate and back - are Co-op, Lib Dems, Youth Options, Bi Wessex, Chrysalis, LGBTt+ Christians of Southampton and Around, Southampton University’s LGTB+ Society, Rainbow Families Southampton, the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, South Central Ambulance Service, Wessex Wyverns RFC, Hampshire Police, and Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service.

Now with two stages inside and outside the Guildhall, sultry 80s pop princess Sinitta will perform at 12pm, bubbly Scouser Sonia at 4pm and boy band 911 at 8pm with local acoustic acts playing from 12pm to 6pm inside.

Also performing will be Courtney Hadwin from the Voice Kids at 1.20pm and Reigns at 7.40pm - who have released the official UK Pride song.

As previously reported officially sponsoring the event is Cunard, while other backers include Solent University, Aviva, Turtle Bay, Nandos, The Edge, The Box Bar, The Stage Door, Go!Southampton, and The London Hotel

Organiser Julianne Watling-McCarthy said: “August is well and truly upon us and there’s not long to go now before the city comes together to celebrate Pride - the organising committee are working hard to finalise all of the plans for the day. There is going to be so much going on on the day including a great children’s area, a market hall and acoustic stage.

“The event is free and everyone is welcome so come along and be counted. We can’t wait to share the day with you all.”
