A MAN was robbed and threatened in a late-night incident in Southampton.

Police are appealing for information after a gang stole a 28-year-old man’s mobile phone outside Champagne Charlies, in Portswood Road between 12.30am and 1am on Monday morning.

The victim was out with friends when there were approached by a group of men, who threatened the man before taking his phone and walking off in the direction of Lodge Road.

Detective constable Kate Rainscourt, asked: “Were you in the area of Portsmouth Road during the early hours of Monday morning? Did you see or hear anything that could be connected to this incident?

“If you have any information, please get in touch with us as soon as possible.”

Five men, aged between 19 and 23 were arrested in connection with this incident. Four are from Southampton and the fifth is from London.

All five have been released without charge but remain under investigation.
