AN ANDOVER company which sells charity Christmas cards has been given an early present thanks to a town centre bank.

Cards for Good Causes, based on the Portway Industrial Estate, has been told it can sell its charitable cards inside Barclays on High Street, Andover, this Christmas.

The company, which is the trading arm of the 1959 Group of Charities, sells packs of cards for the benefit of both local and national causes.

In the past 10 years, the company, which operates across the country, has raised over £40million for charities.

From its industrial estate base in Andover, the company sold 1,600 packs of cards last year and raised more than £8,000.

However the company’s chief executive, Jeremy Lune, believes his company can raise more than £10,000 this year with the benefit of a town centre location.

He said: “The people of Andover have been incredibly generous and helped us raise £8,000 last year from some tables in an industrial estate.

“But we are hoping to raise even more by being right in the heart of the town centre.

“We are very thankful to Barclays for giving us this space.”

The company, which has been based in Andover since 2002, has previously raised money for local charities such as Naomi House through its Christmas card sales.

Mr Lune says the company will continue to support other locally-based charities this year, with the likes of Wiltshire Air Ambulance and the Charlie Waller Trust, based in Thatcham, already signed up.

Ahead of the launch of its stall, which is set to open in mid-October, the company is hoping to recruit volunteers. Anyone who can spare some time is asked to email Jill.Grigg@cfgc.org.uk.
