A MAN is in a critical condition after being found injured on a Southampton pavement in the early hours of the morning.
The 34-year-old was found in Hill Lane at around 5.50am on Sunday with facial injuries.
He was rushed to Southampton General Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
Police are now appealing for information to help with their investigation.
It is not known what happened to the man, but a Hampshire Constabulary spokesman said he may have been assaulted.
Officers are particularly keen to speak to the driver of a blue van who stopped to help the man.
Detective Sergeant Dal Andrews said: “I am appealing for anyone with information about this incident to come and speak to us.
“I would like to make a specific appeal to a man who was driving a blue van and stopped to help the victim. If you’re reading this, please get in touch.
“Hill Lane is a busy road into the city centre and I am confident someone would have seen this man in the area.
"I would also like to speak to anyone who may have a dashcam in their vehicle and used this road during the early hours of this morning.
“If you have any information that could help, please call us on 101 quoting 44170312093.”
