HAMPSHIRE Chamber of Commerce has appointed an expanding Fareham company to handle its strategic IT requirements including cyber security.

Tekkers IT Solutions, based at the Furzehall Farm business park, won a competitive tender to become the chamber’s outsourced services provider for the next three years.

As well as ongoing systems, hardware maintenance and 24/7 on-call support, the brief includes ensuring the chamber is compliant with the government-backed security certification, Cyber Essentials.

Pete Matheson, Tekkers’ founder and managing director, said: “We’ve carried out a full review to understand the chamber’s requirements, taken over support of existing systems and have put a comprehensive plan in place to deliver continual improvement to the IT infrastructure.

“We’re strengthening data management capability and improving cyber security by reducing the risk of any attacks on the network.”

The contract, for an undisclosed fee, is the latest in a series of wins for the six-year-old firm which has grown to employ a team of ten engineers and systems experts.

Clients include law firms, estate agents and professional services companies ranging in size from two to more than 200 IT users.

Maureen Frost, the chamber’s chief executive, said: “We had a strong field of companies who responded to our tender and, ultimately, we were especially impressed by Tekkers’ knowledge, understanding and strategic reach.

“Hacking prevention and IT security are big issues for any business organisation and that’s why we are going for the Cyber Essentials recommendations with help from Tekkers as our partner.”
