NEARLY 1,000 rock fans saw their favourite sound-alikes take to the stage at Southampton’s Mayflower Park for the city’s second Fakes Festival.
Organiser Mark Pitfield, who runs 30 similar events around the UK, said the event was not a sell-out and numbers were down on last year. Mark said his preferred date had already been taken by FestivALL – another one-day music event which, as previously reported, was cancelled.
Mr Pitfield was left with the August weekend date which coincided with the first Saints match of the season – and the resulting drop in ticket sales.
He said: “It’s still worth doing, though, and very popular. The band people want to see the most is the Bon Jovi Experience, but every band is popular.”
This year’s line-up also saw Blondied and The Antarctic Monkeys, as well as local acts The Scheme, Davey Jones Locker, Propaganda, Charley McAuley and Glass Foundations.
