A DAUGHTER left her mother “scared to walk past her in the street” after beating her up at a massage parlour.

Lisa Murray hit Nawong Murray on the nose and pulled her hair while drunk at her mother’s massage parlour in Bridge Road.

The 21-year-old pleaded guilty to assaulting Mrs Murray and breaching a restraining order against attending Nawong Thai Massage, and has been jailed.

Southampton Magistrates’ Court heard that Murray was found at the parlour and asked her mother for money on July 4.

Prosecuting, Richard Oakley said that Mrs Murray replied: “If you want money you should get a job.”

Then Murray attacked Mrs Murray, hitting her on the nose and pulling her to make “her face red and painful”.

Mr Oakley said: “Mrs Murray wanted the original restraining order because of the issues her daughter has with alcohol.”

He said Murray “cannot remember the attack”.

She added: “Mrs Murray said she was trying to be a good mother but she even got scared when walking past her.

“She said ‘I would like someone to help my daughter with her drink and drugs problem because we only have each other.

“I feel scared for my daughter and do not know what to do’.”

A probation report compiled on Murray found the defendant was “reluctant to accept help for her drinking”.

It added that she “failed to recognise the seriousness of her unstable mental health condition”.

The report said: “Her mum will always be willing to have her back even if it is likely that she would be assaulted again.”

Julie Macey, mitigating, said her client was “remorseful” of the assault and “apologised to her mother”.

The court heard that Murray was in breach of four suspended sentences - which included one charge of beating a detention officer and one of battery.

Murray was sentenced to 18 weeks in prison for assault and breach of a restraining order, and was given an additional 10 weeks from her previous suspended sentences.

She was also ordered to pay £115 victim surcharge.
