A LOVESTRUCK Portsmouth couple ditched the traditional wedding cake - and instead opted for a £2.50 cheesecake.

Emma Bazely, a fundraiser for a breast cancer charity, tied the knot with car audio technician Sam Dean, and cut the unusual dessert in front of 150 guests.

The couple met at the gym in May 2015 and started their relationship by celebrating 'Cheesecake Tuesdays' each week after Sam introduced Emma to his favourite hand-finished white chocolate and raspberry cake from Asda.

Emma said: “When we started planning the wedding, Sam was insistent that we had his favourite cheesecake on our big day, rather than a traditional wedding cake.

"So I contacted Asda in May and they agreed to gift us with four super-size versions of the dessert to look like a wedding cake.

"We’ve been so excited to mark our big day with our favourite pud and show our guests why we love them so much."

Asda created a giant version of the cake, which is made using Scottish raspberries and Belgian white chocolate.

A spokesperson for Asda, said: "We usually make cheesecakes to feed either a single person or six people, and so creating four cheesecakes to feed 20 people each was a challenge, but one that we were happy to take on!

"The Extra Special White Chocolate & Raspberry Cheesecake is hand-made in small batches using Belgian white chocolate, British cream and juicy Scottish Raspberries.

"It is an indulgent treat that we all love and are very proud of, but we never imagined that someone would want one for their wedding! "It was quite the compliment."
