POLICE hunting a man who allegedly sexually assaulted a woman and made explicit remarks to another in Southampton have released two e-fit images.

In two separate incidents between 11.30pm and midnight on Sunday the man, who was riding a bike, approached the women and made sexually explicit remarks.

At around midnight a 20-year-old woman reported being sexually assaulted over the top of her clothes in Onslow Road at the junction with Rockstone Lane.

He also exposed himself and made sexually explicit remarks before cycling off in the direction of the Jury's Inn.

Around half an hour earlier, it was also reported a man approached a 23-year-old woman on Avenue Road and made sexually explicit remarks towards her before cycling off.

Both of the woman were walking alone when the incidents took place.

After stepping up patrols and urging people to be alert, officers have now released the two images, believed to be same man, in a bid to identify him.

He has been described as Indian, Asian or dark skinned with black curly hair and a slim or skinny build.

Both women have said the man was wearing a sports top which had ‘South Africa’ written on it, and was either yellow or green. He may have also been wearing a cycle helmet.

Detective Constable Simon Stocker, from the Western Investigation Team, said: “We believe both women were approached by the same man, therefore we have released both e-fits.

“We are urging anyone who knows the identity of this man to make contact with us.

“When walking in the city late at night, please be alert to your own personal safety. Where possible, do not walk alone. Try to arrange a lift, taxi or public transport. If you see anyone suspicious, call 101 or 999.”

Hampshire Constabulary had previously said the incidents took place in Highcliff Avenue and Bevois Valley Road, but "upon further investigation and work with the victims", officers have established the locations as Avenue Road and Onslow Road.

Anyone with information is urged to call 101 quoting reference '44170313153', or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
