SMYTHS Toys is to open its doors at a new superstore at Bradbeers Retail Park, Hedge End, on Saturday – marking completion of the first phase of a major refurbishment.

South Coast commercial property specialist Lambert Smith Hampton acted as agents for the retail park’s owners, Ram Capital, in securing the tenancy.

It comes after Bradbeers Retail Park, in Tollbar Way, was given a significant revamp that includes reclad modern facades, improved access and parking, and expansion of the retail space.

The unit taken up by Smyths has been extended by 4,500sqft, making it 14,500sqft in total.

John Butt, a director in the retail team at LSH, said: “The refurbishment has seen an otherwise quite tired and lacklustre park greatly improved through strategic asset management.

“The modern facades provide glazing of the highest quality, allowing customers to see into the units from outside. This is a feature of only the most modern retail parks.

“New roof coverings and signage smarten the overall appearance and enhance the customer experience at the retail park.”

A second 10,760 sq ft unit at the retail park is currently under offer to another leading international retail brand.

John added: “We are currently in discussions with a brand after seeing significant interest in this unit from a number of parties.

“We hope to make an announcement in September regarding the last unit at the site. The high level of interest in the site reflects the quality of the refurbishment and buoyant retail market on the south coast.”

Other current occupiers at the retail park include Bradbeers Furniture Store, Carpetright, Harveys and Burger King.
