Jordan White, 23, of Hartlands Road, Fareham, died following a collision in Highlands Road in the early hours of August 11.

Police and ambulance crews rushed to the scene in Highlands Road, Fareham, shortly after midnight to reports of a collision involving a Peugeot 206 and a pedestrian.

South Central Ambulance Service confirmed they treated a 23-year-old Fareham man, but he was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Hampshire Constabulary closed the road between Stow Crescent and Gudge Heath Lane for around 7 hours while they carried out their investigations, with two men – a 23-year-old from Fareham and a 25-year-old from Portsmouth – being arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Both men have been released but remain under investigation, with enquiries into the exact circumstances of the collision still ongoing.

Officers are particularly keen to speak to the driver of a light coloured 4x4 that was in the area shortly before the collision.

Detective Sergeant Ashley Hannibal said: “Was this you? If so, we would really like to speak to you as you may have information which could help our investigation.”

A number of people have taken to social media to pay their respects to Mr White. One person wrote: “Such a waste of a young life,” while another person said: “Very sad. Such a young guy with his whole life ahead of him. Thoughts go out to the family.”
