A MAN has been left with a fractured jaw after being attacked near a Southampton pub.
Police have launched an appeal for witnesses after the 52-year-old victim was punched in the head by a man in Above Bar Street, near the Spitfire Pub, leaving him requiring surgery.
The man was assaulted sometime after 2.30am on Sunday morning.
Now officers are searching for witnesses as the incident occurred after a busy night out in Southampton city centre and police believe there would have been a number of people in the area at the time.
Anyone with information regarding the assault is urged to call Detective Constable Sean Owens, of the Western Investigation Team, on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
